Carol M. Van Slochteren, age 85 of Kenosha, died on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Born in Racine on December 25, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Edna (Sahr) Siepler. On August 26 1950 in Waukegan, IL, she was united in marriage to Richard Van Slochteren. They were blessed with three children and nearly 49 years together. Richard preceded her in death on July 22, 1999. Carol dedicated much of her life to being a wife, mother and grandmother. She also helped her husband with the family business, Van’s Electronics. She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church. Carol was a vivacious reader, loved to play vinyl records, and create and paint Rosemaling. She had a strong interest in Native American Culture and was always a supporter of their rights. She was incredibly charitable and supported numerous organizations on a monthly basis. Carol is survived by her children, Guy (Sheila) Van Slochteren of Kenosha, Debbie (John) Hoppe of Kenosha and Tamra (Edward) Polen of Highland Park, IL; a granddaughter, Shelley Meyer of Kenosha; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Back and Ethan Meyer; and a sister, Sharon Kuykendall of MI. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Richard and James Siepler, LaRaine Stewart, Marjorie Petrick, Betty Kupper, Joyce Iselin, Dorothy Wittbecker and Marilyn Schmidt.
