Danielle K. “Katie” Bartlett, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at her home in Kenosha, WI, on May 25, 2018, at the age of 71. She was born in Fort Worth, TX, and was given the name of Shirley Karotkin by her adoptive parents, Milton and Bessie Karotkin of San Antonio, TX. In 1964, she graduated from Incarnate Word High School and then proceeded to attend Texas A&I in Kingsville. Her first job was working for her father at Karotkin’s Furniture Store at North Star Mall. She raised dairy goats, developed trivia games for Qlink and AOL, founded an internet service provider, was night manager for a nationwide answering service and held the position of Administrative Assistant for Monroe County Social Services in Key West, FL for six years until her retirement. Katie was a believer in the mystic, the magical and the ability find peace and healing through the practice of Reiki. She was a Level 3 Reiki Master as well as an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church. She loved the color purple, playing games with friends and family, music, chocolate, and shopping. She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Roger Bartlett of Kenosha, WI; her children, Mistre (Greg) Scribner of West Allis, WI, Barbara (Jason) Kelton of Midland, GA, Jennifer (Jaren) Meier of Grand Prairie, TX and Joseph (Jennifer) Johnson of Spring Branch, TX. Katie was further blessed with ten grandchildren and one great grandchild who knew her as Nanny. While Katie’s presence will be missed, we know she is at peace and where she desired to be.
