Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintWalter E. Christiansen, 87, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Hospice Alliance, Inc./Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie.
A lifelong Kenosha resident, he was born on December 31, 1930 and was the son of the late Emil and Susan (Pynaker) Christiansen. He attended local schools; graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School and the Chicago College of Commerce.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1954.
On September 24, 1955 he married Marilyn Schend at First United Methodist Church. They were blessed with two daughters and 48 years of marriage. Sadly, Marilyn passed away on October 30, 2014.
He was employed for many years as an assistant and then manager of F. Landon Cartage Co. and later with Becker, Inc. of Kenosha until his retirement.
A member and past secretary of the Kenosha Moose Lodge # 286 and a past president of the Kenosha Traffic Club, Walter enjoyed fishing and hunting. He entertained family and friends with playing the accordion. He was grateful for and very proud of his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Cheryl (Richard) Bizek and Kathy (Dale) Gillmore; 5 grandchildren, Jodi (Allen) Stough, Elaine Gillmore, Sara (Jeff) Barnekow, Lori (Preston) Merkel and Dean (Samineh) Gillmore; 7 great- grandchildren, Stephanie and Mitchell Stough, Hunter and Haylee Schwaiger, Brook Barnekow, and Lilly and Charlie Merkel; along with nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Marilyn, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Caviezel and a brother Robert.
Service Date January 20, 2018
Funeral Services honoring Walter’s life will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave., Kenosha, WI. Interment will follow with military honors in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
