Born, May 22, 1912, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Covelli) Asta.
A life-long resident of Kenosha, Virginia attended local schools.
On November, 16, 1940 she united in marriage to Eugene “Jack” Ruffalo. They were blessed with 34 years of marriage before he passed away on November 15, 1974.
She was employed at the candy counter of Marshall Field’s Department Store at Old Orchard Mall in Skokie, Illinois.
Virginia was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and a former member of Rosary Society & Mission Group. She also was a former member of the Kenosha Senior Action Council and the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary.
She will be deeply missed by her granddaughter, Amy (Eric) Hawkinson of Boca Raton, FL, and her three great-grandchildren. Virginia is further survived by a son, Eugene Ruffalo of Livingston, TX, and three additional great-grandchildren in Elizabeth City, NC.
In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Michael; three sisters, Jessie Richio, Jenny Vellella and Amelia Bianco; and her grandson, Brian Ruffalo.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospitality Nursing and Rehab Center for the care they provided to Virginia the past nine years.
Service Date December 18, 2015
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 1919 – 54th Street. Interment will follow in St. George Cemetery.
