Virginia C. Sytkowski, age 90 of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at her home.
She was born on December 14, 1926 in Kenosha to the late Stanley and Pearl Jablonski. Virginia graduated from St. Casimir Grade School, Washington Jr. High School and Mary D. Bradford High School. Virginia also attended Gateway Technical Institute and Wisconsin University – Kenosha Campus.
On September 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Leonard E. Werbie. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1974. On October 27, 1979, she was united in marriage to Mitchell Sytkowski. He preceded her in death on April 5, 2010.
Virginia was employed in the accounting department with Mac Whyte Wire Rope Company. She also was employed for several years with the Kenosha Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, she was employed with the Kenosha County Circuit Court, retiring after 22 years of service.
She was a current member of James Catholic Church and the former St. Casimir Catholic Church where she was a member of the choir for over 40 years. She was also a Parish Council member and church treasurer. Virginia was past president of the Sacred Heart Society and the Christian Mothers Society. She was also a member of the St. Jude Society and past president of the Kenosha Legal Secretaries Association.
She is survived by her three children, Dr. Thomas Werbie, Judy (Chris) Grainger and Margaret (Eric) Naviasky; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Virginia is further survived by her step-children, Greg (Kathy) Sytkowski, John (Kathy) Sytkowski, Alice Gwaltney, Kathryn (Bill) Johnson, Patricia (Ralph) Nemic, Jean (Kelvin) Larson, Laura (John) Donnell, Susan (Ken) Neubauer and Thomas (Jennifer) Sytkowski; sixteen step-grandchildren and ten step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Werbie.
Service Date June 12, 2017
Funeral Services honoring Virginia’s life will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 5821 10th Avenue. Private committal and interment will take place in St. Casimir Cemetery.
