Born in Algoma, WI on August 4, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Josephine (Duran) Zimmerman. Violet was a Kenosha resident until she moved to Spring Grove, IL to be closer to her family.
She was united in marriage to Ellis T. Hogan. Violet dedicated her life to caring for her husband and children.
Violet was employed in the Chicago area as a housekeeper and secretary. She was later employed with Jo-Ann Fabrics and Craft Store in Kenosha as a manager.
She was a fun lady who was loved by children of all ages. When her children were younger, she was involved in the local PTA and Girl Scouts. Violet was born with many artistic abilities and she was always creative at parties with unique decorations and using new game types. She enjoyed sewing and creating toys, costumes and edible creations for her children and grandchildren.
Violet was an avid reader and enjoyed dancing. As a child, she took both toe and tap dancing. Violet was a very supportive person. Later in life, when her daughter became ill, she spent many years helping her and taking care of her. She was a person that didn’t require a great deal for herself but provided a great deal to others.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Kae Angotti) Hogan of Spring Grove, IL; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis; her daughter, Maureen Castronova; her siblings, Lucille, David, Richard, Dorothy, Earl and Edna and several nieces and nephews.
Service Date August 16, 2016
Funeral Services honoring Violet’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in All Saints Mausoleum, 3300 Springbrook Rd., Pleasant Prairie. Interment will follow.
