He was born November 1, 1931 to the late U.Z and Ida (Brinson) Wells in Hunterville, MO. Thomas accepted Christ at an early age and later joined with Second Baptist Church in Kenosha where he was a member.
Thomas, fondly known as Tommy, was united in marriage to Elizabeth Gause on February 14, 1982, in Winston Salem, N.C.
Tommy worked for many years at Thompson Concrete and Arco Trucking until his retirement.
Tommy joined Masonic order in 1954 and obtained the 33rd degree. He was with the National Supreme Council A & A and the S.R. Masonic order. He also helped form two other groups, the Supreme Council King Cyrus and American International, where he held the office of Sovereign Grand Commander. He also was a member of the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.
Tommy will be forever remembered by his wife, Elizabeth; 11 step and foster children: daughters, Naasira Muhammed, Cynthia (Ronald) Baskin and Laverne Hardee all of Winston Salem, N.C ; sons, John (Sandra) Gause of Racine, WI, Kenneth Hardee of Racine, WI , Donald Hardee of Winston Salem N.C, Melton (Beatrice) Hardee of Snellville, GA, Kent Hardee, Richard Thompson and Tommy Thompson of Kenosha, WI; brothers, Nathaniel Wells of Kenosha, WI, Edward Wells of Kankakee, IL, and Jerry Wells of San Bernadino, CA; an uncle, E.W. (Esther) Wells of Las Vegas, NV, sisters-in-law, Beulah Wells of Chicago, IL; Jacqueline Wells and Moneta Wells of Kankakee, IL and one brother-in-law, Willie Ames of Kankakee, IL, along with grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo, Floyd, Percy and James; and sisters, Lottie and Otha.
Service Date July 8, 2017
A Home Going Service honoring Thomas’ life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, 3929 32nd Ave. Private interment will take place in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park at a later date.
