Thomas W. Stevenson, age 75 of Kenosha, died peacefully on Friday November 25, 2016 at Hospice Alliance/Hospice House.
Born in Des Moines, IA on November 2, 1941, he was the son of Bill and Margaret (Sparrowk) Stevenson. Tom attended elementary school in Nemaha and Stella, NE and was a 1959 graduate of Stella High School.
He worked full and part-time for the Farmers Cooperative in Auburn, NE while attending Peru College where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1963. For two years, Tom began working as a teacher/coach at Dannebrog, Nebraska High and Walnut, Iowa Junior High School for four years. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Northwest Missouri State College in 1970.
On May 26, 1968 in Walnut, IA, he was united in marriage to Alyceann Juhl.
Tom was employed as a Guidance Counselor with Guthrie Center, IA High School for four years. Tom then went into Civil Services as an Education Specialist working for the U.S. Navy Recruiting Command until his retirement in 2007. He worked at the Great Lakes, IL Naval Station as well as in the cities of Des Moines, Omaha, Phoenix, Milwaukee and his current residence of Kenosha, WI.
He was a past member of the Stella Community Church in Stella, NE and the Presbyterian Church in Auburn, NE. He was a 50 year member of Nemaha Valley Masonic Lodge #4 in Brownville, NE. He volunteered his time at Aurora Hospital.
Tom is survived by his wife, Alyceann Stevenson of Kenosha, WI; his daughters, Jennifer (Gary) True of Zionsville, IN and Jessica (George) Kontogiannis of Kenosha, WI; his grandchildren, Emily and Sydney True and Dimitrios and Anastasia Kontogiannis; his brother-in-law, Clarence (Shirley) Biere of Clark, MO and nephew, Mike Biere of Denver, CO.
He is further survived by his cousins, David (Delores) Stevenson of Albuquerque, NM, John Stevenson of Nemaha, NE, Paul (Mary) Stevenson of Nebraska City, NE and Carl Stevenson of Brownville, NE.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Stevenson and a sister, Phyllis Biere.
Tom’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice Alliance, Inc., for the special care they provided.
In accordance with Tom’s wishes, private funeral services will be held.
