Born on February 25, 1962, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of Richard and Janice (Petersen) Van Caster. She attended local schools and was a 1980 graduate of Tremper High School.
On April 5, 1986, she was united in marriage to David Elmblad at the First Congregational Church. They were blessed with three daughters and 28 years of marriage.
Sue returned to Tremper High School, not as a student, but working as a registrar for almost 8 years.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and also volunteered her time while her daughters were in school, coaching their dance team, the Tremper Trojanette’s.
Sue’s family came to rely on her ability to plan the perfect family get-togethers and she loved decorating her home and yard for the seasons and holidays. Many family gatherings were spent in her beautiful yard, where she spent countless hours grooming and gardening.
