Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintStephen V. Gulan, age 80, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at United Hospital Systems-St. Catherine’s Campus.
Born on June 15, 1935, he was the last surviving child of the late John and Bernice (Dombrowska) Gulan.
He attended St. Casimir Catholic School, Washington Jr. High School and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. He furthered his education by receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Carthage College, Master of Business Administration from Roosevelt University. He also attended the University of Wisconsin, University of Illinois and IIT-Kent College of Law and earned a GRI from the Wisconsin Realtors Institute and attended numerous trade and business seminars.
Steve honorably served in the U.S. Army and the Illinois and Wisconsin National Guard.
On September 13, 1969, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Marion Catherine Watring. She preceded him in death on October 22, 1995.
For 32 years, Steve was employed with AMC/Chrysler Corp. He was also the president of MBSG Corp., and for 34 years, he owned and operated Park Liquors on 7th Avenue and was the Vice President of Marion’s Harbor Pub and Restaurant.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and faithfully served on their parish council. For many years, he was a member of the former St. Casimir Catholic Church and their parish council.
Steve was a very active and proud member of the 4th Degree K of C Archbishop Messmer Council, Elks Lodge #702 in Waukegan, IL, Moose Lodge #286 and the UAW Local #72 Retirees. For six years, he was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce Crime Stoppers Board, Salvation Army advisory board of directors, local real estate investment, NRA and a life member of PLAV Post #34. He was a former member of Kenosha Chamber of Commerce, Kenosha Realtors Association, former chairman of the trustees of the Kenosha Elks Lodge #750 and board of directors and chairman of the Kenosha Lakeshore Business Improvement and their trolley committee.
Steve enjoyed traveling and spent an extensive amount of time in Central and South America and Eastern and Western Europe.
He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Steve was preceded in death by three brothers, John T., Chester P., and Peter A. Gulan and two sisters, Genevieve B. and Regina M. Gulan.
Service Date February 5, 2016
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 4817 7th Avenue. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Casimir Cemetery.
