He was born in Ukraine on February 8, 1925, the son of the late Michael and Maria Zwarycz. As a young boy, Stefan left Ukraine and journeyed to Germany. There he met the love of his life, Eugenia Eleeswa, and on October 18, 1947, they were united in marriage.
Searching for a better life for his family, they voyaged to America. Stefan was a faithful, hardworking man devoted to his wife, daughters, and many friends who were like family to him. He was caring, generous, and had a loving heart.
For 32 years, he was employed as a machinist at AMC/Chrysler Corporation.
Stefan was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and of St. Michael Ukrainian Church in Milwaukee. His Ukrainian heritage was very important to him. Stefan lived out his days with a strong faith in God. He was a good man, his faith shaped his life.
Stefan loved working and he never sat idle. He was a talented stained glass designer, enjoyed gardening, raising beautiful roses, making wine, putzing in the garage, and always staying busy.
Retirement blessed Stefan and Eugenia with the opportunity to be Florida “Snowbirds” for many years and to spend time at their northern Wisconsin cottage. They also traveled to many exciting destinations.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Eugenia; his daughters, Mary (Michael Thompson) Harms, Sandra (Richard) Jonas; his grandchildren, Matthew (Nicole) Harms, Katherine (Douglas) Greenmeier and Michael Jonas; his great grandchildren, Abigail Harms, Alec and Drew Greenmeier.
