She was born in Kenosha on July 4, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret (Ohmstead) Haubrich. She attended local schools and received her Nursing Assistant Certification from Gateway Technical College.
On April 28, 1945, she and the love of her life, Charles E. Jahnke were united in marriage. During their 62 years of marriage, they enjoyed ballroom and square dancing and were active members of the Allemande Square Dance Club. Sadly, Charles preceded her in death on July 13, 2007.
Shirley was employed as a CNA with Washington Manor Nursing and Rehab Center. While working at Washington Manor, she cared for the residents with the utmost respect and love, until her retirement in 1987.
During retirement, Shirley and her husband took up golf and they both spent many hours in their beautiful flower gardens. One of their favorite camping destinations was Peninsula State Park in Door County. Shirley was happiest when she was with her family; especially get-togethers at her home. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends at their Saturday morning breakfast club.
Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Joel (Lori) and Charles (Tina) Jahnke. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Douglas, Kelly, James, Steven, Kathy Ann, Rachel, Joel Jr. and Elise.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Davey; her son-in-law, James Davey; her grandson, Christopher Davey; her brothers, Robert, Elwood, Gary and Ronald; and her sisters, Ruth, Audrey, Marlene, Delores and Dona.
