Born on February 20, 1934 in Kenosha, she was the daughter of Edward J. and Flossie F. (Greathouse) Dawson. She attended Weiskopf Elementary, Washington Junior High, and Mary D. Bradford High Schools.
On May 6, 1951 in Waukegan, IL, she was united in marriage to Donald P. Reuter and together they had five children. In 1970 they built their dream home in Bristol, WI, and there they continued raising their children and sharing countless good times together. Sadly, after 35 years of marriage, Don passed away on July 13, 1986.
Shirley was a selfless wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. She cared for her own mother in her final years.
Among her favorite pastimes were baking, travel, jigsaw puzzles, Chinese checkers, embroidery, and reading. Besides being a homemaker for all those years, she enjoyed working at the Kenosha Twins Ballpark and RK News.
Surviving her are her five children, Robert (Anita) Reuter of Shrewsbury, VT, and their children, John Reuter, Tom Reuter, Calen (Russ) Antrim, Liesl (Trevor) Dumas, Morgan (Dan) Christensen, and Rachel Reuter. Rick (Judy) Reuter of Kenosha, and their children, Stephanie (Dan) Gregoire, Donald P. Reuter, and Sarah Reuter. Paula (Bob) Hutchinson of Kenosha, and their son, Allen Hutchinson. Tom (Dawn) Reuter of Silver Lake, WI, and their son, David (Rachel Scull) Reuter, and Kathy (Dave) Porter of Rome, WI. Shirley is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
Shirley is further survived by her brother, Donald (Germaine) Dawson of Peoria, AZ, brother-in-law, Bob Lee Sr., many nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends Rich and Jane Schnuck.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Robert Reuter and Daniel Reuter.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Malik Bandealy and his staff, Aurora at Home Hospice, and her special angels, Lisa and Kalli for all of the loving and supportive care they provided. You will never be forgotten.
