Becker, age 92 of Kenosha, died on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Hospice Alliance, Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie with her granddaughters and great grandson by her side.
Born on August 31, 1925 in Woodstock, IL, she was the daughter of the late John and Edith (Letsler) Oliver. Shirley was raised and educated in Kenosha; a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.
On March 29, 1948, she married Melvin A. Becker in DuBuque, IA. Sadly Melvin preceded her in death on July 18, 2009.
She was employed at Sentry Food grocery store as a cashier for 30 years, retiring in 1985. Shirley was always smiling and friendly and brought life into any room she entered.
She was a faithful and active member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Ladies Aid and visited nursing homes.
Shirley enjoyed polka dancing with Melvin, baking, traveling and loved animals. She especially liked to spend time with her daughter and granddaughters in Washington D.C. She was also extremely close with her husband’s family, the Beckers, and spent a lot of time up north by the lake.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Lee Becker of Madison, WI; her two grandchildren, Camille Chatilovicz and Alexandra McAuslan of Scottsdale, AZ, her great-grandson, Bronson McAuslan and cat, Zoey.
Service Date June 6, 2018
Funeral Services honoring Shirley will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 5927 37th Avenue. Entombment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
