Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintSarah Ann Bullamore, age 98 of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016 at United Hospital Systems-St. Catherine’s Campus, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bristol Township, Kenosha County on March 30, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Walter Leslie and Sarah Ann (Gregory) Perry. She attended West Newport School in Lake County, IL, Hazel Dell School in Kenosha and was a 1935 graduate of Antioch Township High School where she was the Valedictorian of her class.
Sarah continued her education and in 1937, she received her teaching certificate from the Racine-Kenosha Rural Normal School. In 1961, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Dominican College in Racine and in 1970, her Master’s Degree in Science and Remedial Reading from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
In 1938, she was united in marriage to Russell Fields. That marriage later dissolved. On June 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to Oren Bullamore. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1987.
Sarah began her teaching career in 1937. She was employed with several county schools including; Pikeville, Barnard, Druce Lake in Lake County, IL and Lincoln State Grade School; which was later renamed Green Bay Road School, where she taught and was also principal. In 1940-1948, during the summer months, Sarah was employed at John’s Manville and Neiser’s Dime Store in Waukegan, IL.
In 1965, Sarah joined the Kenosha School System and taught Remedial Reading in Kenosha Unified Schools, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of Somers United Church of Christ and taught Sunday school and Bible School for many years. Sarah was also a member of Royal Neighbors of America, NEA, WEA, WREA and KCREA.
Sarah enjoyed the time she spent traveling, dancing, playing cards, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, and making and dressing porcelain dolls. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and was happiest devoting her time to being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her three children, Beverly Ann (Ron) Eckhart of Trevor, Barbara Jane (Warren) Reck of Twin Lakes and A. Steven (Diana) Bullamore of Pleasant Prairie; her 8 grandchildren; her 22 great grandchildren and her 29 great-great grandchildren
She is further survived by a sister, Mary Williams; her sister-in-law, Ellie Bullamore and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 4 grandchildren; one brother; one sister; several half brothers and sisters; 2 nephews; and 2 sisters-in-law.
Service Date November 14, 2016
Funeral Services honoring Sarah’s life will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery.
