Rudolph J. “Rudy” Slivon, age 88, of Kenosha died on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Brookside Care Center.
Born on June 15, 1925 in the Village of Petrovice, Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late George and Barbara (Midas) Slivon. Rudy immigrated to the United States on February 4, 1938. His family settled in Racine, WI.
On August 15th 1953 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Mary Jurik.
Rudy worked for the Civil Service Army Ordinance as a test driver of M24 and M36 army tanks. He then worked for American Motors for over 20 years, retiring in 1974.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and served his parish as an usher.
Rudy was an all-around handyman who enjoyed automotive repair and carpentry. He considered himself an environmentalist and enjoyed listening to accordion music. He was extremely proud of his Slovak ethnic heritage, its music, its history and especially its food. Rudy enjoyed natures’ beauty. He especially enjoyed sunbathing.
In his final chapter of life, at Brookside Care Center, he developed a love for things he never experienced such as playing bingo, going on fishing trips, trying out new restaurants and other activities.
Rudy is loved and survived by his wife of sixty years, Mary Slivon; his children, Linda Marquardt, George (Lynn) Slivon, and Sandy (Steven Dunn) Slivon; and his five grandchildren, Chris, Rachel, Jessica, Sarah and Elizabeth.
He is further survived by his brother, Joseph Slivon; and his three sisters, Ann Mercier, Josephine Russell and Gabrielle (John) Pretes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kyano; and two siblings in infancy.
The Slivon family would like to make a special acknowledgement and thank you to theEntire Staff at Brookside Care Center for making Rudy’s final months of life memorable.

Service Date May 23, 2014
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 23, 2014, beginning with a prayer service at 9:15 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 2223 51st Street. Private inurnment will take place in St. George Cemetery.
