Born in Tomah, WI on June 7, 1933, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mildred (Alexander) Calkins. When Phil was 10 years old he lost his father, grandfather, and sister, Charlotte, in a tragic house fire. His mother later married Keith Nichols and relocated to Waukegan, IL. He was a 1952 graduate of Waukegan High School.
Phil proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was later employed as a machinist by Tri-Clover for 25 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and selflessly volunteered his time as a driver with Transportation Service of Kenosha, taking seniors to appointments.
Phil will be deeply missed by his wife, Beverly; three sons, Guy Eriksn, Craig Calkins and Kyle Calkins; two sisters, Jennifer Johnson and Lee Lauzon and a granddaughter.
In addition to his parents and sister, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Keith Nichols.
The family would like to thank Hospice Alliance for their kind and compassionate care of Phillip.
Private inurnment will be held in St. John the Baptist Cemetery at a later date.
