Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on July 19, 1932, he was the son of the late Carl Acerbi Sr. and Patricia Orth.
Peter attended St. James’ Catholic School in Kenosha before honorably serving our country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
On April 15, 1961 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Kenosha, he was united in marriage to Elena T. Bocwinski. They were blessed with two wonderful children and 55 years of marriage. After raising their children in Kenosha, Peter and Elena spent many years as “snowbirds,” spending their winters in Naples, FL, before permanently moving to Naples in 2013.
For 30 years Peter was employed with the City of Kenosha Parks Department, retiring in 1989.
Peter was a devout Catholic and faithful member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kenosha and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Naples. He loved to travel, visiting Italy, Argentina, and enjoying many cruises. Peter was fondly regarded as a man who could fix anything; his skills and tool kit were often in demand. He was proud of his Italian heritage and had great knowledge of classic cars. He was an ardent fan of his wife’s cooking, a hot cup of coffee and a good sweet roll. Peter enjoyed spending time with friends and family, even if it was simply being with each other without saying a word. He was someone to turn to for no-nonsense advice, possessing worldly wisdom that only years of hard work and experience could provide.
He will be infinitely missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Elena, their two children, Lisa (Randall) Mueller and David Acerbi; his three grandchildren, Morgen, Andrew, and Chloe Mueller; his sisters, Dolores Sommers and Gigi Acerbi; his brothers, Carl (Barbara), Robert (Sharon) and Thomas Acerbi; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Service Date July 1, 2016
Funeral Services honoring Peter will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 beginning with a prayer service at 11:00 a.m. from the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2224 30th Avenue. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Casimir Cemetery.
