He was born on July 11, 1927 in Somers, WI, to the late Leo and Mary (Hoeffner) Lichter. Nick was the oldest of three siblings; Edith, Jo Anne, and William “Bucky”.
From 1946 until 1947, Nick served in the U.S. Army being stationed at Ft. Worden, WA. After his military career, he returned to farming with his father.
On April 7, 1951 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Racine, WI, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kathleen Hayes. They resided and raised their six children in Somers, WI. Nick and Kathleen were blessed with 65 years together. Sadly, Kathleen passed away on March 10, 2016.
Nick continued to farm, working as a welder during the winter at American Motors. He went to work for Kenosha Auto Transport (KAT) and retired as Vice President of Operations.
After retirement, Nick and Kathleen went on many adventures exploring our national parks and battlefields. He also continued his pursuit of the elusive walleye with many fishing trips. Nick never met a piece of machinery that he couldn’t repair.
