Born on April 28, 1920 in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Rose (Steffen) Zirbel.
Being born a Zirbel, Millie’s life was filled with working on the farm, playing softball and having fun spending time with her siblings. Their special bond continued with family card club and special breakfast get-togethers.
On October 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Bernard Jackley. Sadly, after 46 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on June 8, 1993.
She was employed in food service with Paris School retiring after 21 years of service. Previously, Millie dedicated much of her life as a stay at home mother for her children and numerous foster children.
Millie was an avid bowler. For 50 years she was on the Wednesday night bowling league in Union Grove and then the senior league at Sheridan Lanes.
She loved spending time outdoors, gardening, mowing her lawn and playing Sheepshead at her home on Sunday’s. Her greatest treasure in life was the time she spent with her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Millie will be remembered by her two sons, Robert and Don Jackley; her two daughters, Geri (Larry) Arnold and Dawn (Mike) Jones; her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Jackley; and her foster daughter, Judy (Ron) Gilmore; her sister, Helen Miller; and her brothers, Bill and Larry (Greta) Zirbel; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; her special friend, Jessie Dabbs; and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Jackley; her brothers, Wesley, Lester, Leonard, Warren and Walter Zirbel; her sisters, June Macik and Dorothy Nelson; her great grandchildren, Joshua (Deuce) Jones, and Tyler Davis; and her son-in-law, Randy Jones.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. A.J. Capelli and staff for all the exceptional care provide to Millie over the years. Also, thank you to the Hospitality Nursing and Rehab Wing 2 RN’s and LPN’s for the care they provided.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. Interment will follow in Bristol-Paris Cemetery.
