A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Mary was born on February 2, 1918; the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary (Chmielewski) Wawiorka.
On September 13, 1941, at St. Casimir Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Joseph C. Safago. Blessed with three children and 44 years together; Mary was a loving homemaker for her family. Sadly Joseph passed away in 1985.
Mary is survived by her children, Judith Zahn, Ruth (David) Van Lone and Michael (Lisa) Safago; grandchildren, James, David and Michael Zahn, AnnCatherine Downing and Jennifer Bartlett; and great grandchildren, Chris, Karlie, Connor, Elizabeth, Andrew and Luke.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by three sisters; four brothers and a son-in-law Howard Zahn.
Service Date November 12, 2018
Funeral services honoring Mary’s life will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2224 30th Ave, Kenosha, WI. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
