Mary MacGillis Capelli (February 28, 1931 – July 19, 2014), wife of Dr. Paul A. Capelli, passed away peacefully in her home after a short illness. Mary met her husband when she and Paul were students at Marquette University. They married in 1955 and would have soon celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Mary graduated in 1952 as a Speech and Hearing Therapist. She was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit Honor Society, and Gamma Pi Epsilon, the Women’s Honorary Society of Marquette University.
Mary left teaching as a speech therapist in Milwaukee Public Schools to raise her family of ten children. She considered her family to be her greatest accomplishment. Her children and grand-children brought her tremendous joy.
Mary continued her education in nursing at Gateway Technical College, subsequently practicing as an ambulatory obstetrics nurse with her husband for fifteen years.
Left to celebrate Mary’s life are her husband, Paul, and their loving family:

  • Dr. Mary Capelli-Schellpfeffer and Dr. Michael Schellpfeffer with Sarah Schellpfeffer and her husband Nathan Damodaran and son, Frederic Damodaran; Benjamin Capelli Schellpfeffer; Amelia Schellpfeffer; and Dr. Natalie R. Schellpfeffer.
  • Paula C. and Dr. E. John Eldridge, with Dr. Mary Eldridge, Kathleen Eldridge, Joseph Eldridge, and Eugene Eldridge.
  • John A. and Sophia Capelli, with Paul Andrew Capelli, Katherine Capelli, and Emily Capelli.
  • Dr. Christopher Capelli and Mary Jo Esenther, with John Capelli and Joseph Capelli.
  • Dr. Gregory J. Capelli and Dr. Mary Schroeder-Capelli, with Gregory Capelli, Alex Capelli, Matthew Capelli, and Mitchell Capelli.
  • Dr. Paul V. Capelli and Dr. Nina Kayeum, with David Capelli and Trina Capelli
  • Dr. Alexander G. P. Capelli and Dr. Frances Caruso, with Samantha Capelli, Blaze Capelli, Luke Capelli, and Lilianna Capelli.
  • Dr. Regina Capelli-Scheidt and Dr. Karl Scheidt, with Robert Scheidt, Paul Scheidt, Caroline Scheidt, and Anne Scheidt.
  • Anne C. and Larry Golding, with Samuel Golding and Regina Golding.
  • Joseph M. and Francesca Capelli, with George Capelli, Tomasina Capelli, and Paul Joseph Capelli.

Mary will be greatly missed by her spousal family, G. Thomas and Pauline McTernan, Dr. Raymond and Carol Knight, and Dr. A. John and Julie Capelli.
Preceded in death by her parents, Crescent J. and Regina MacGillis, and brothers James and John, Mary is also survived by her brothers, Paul MacGillis and Dr. Alexander MacGillis.

Service Date July 26, 2014

A Catholic memorial Mass is planned on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church at 10:00 am. A Prayer service will be held on Saturday beginning at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. George’s Cemetery.
