Born on July 1, 1939 in Racine, WI, she was the daughter of the late Gerald F. and Helen (Kuenzie) Hardy. She attended St. John’s Nepomuk School and St. Catherine’s High School.
On June 15, 1957, Mary was united in marriage to Lester J. Lindblad, Jr. at St. John’s Nepomuk Church. After their union, they re-located to Kenosha and joined St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
She spent 15 years working in shipping for Jockey, where she was also a Credit Union Secretary, and 21 years for Tri-Clover. Over the years, Mary was a very active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed being an usher, helping with the St. Peter’s Day festival, running their rummage sale and soup kitchen, and was in their Women’s League. Over the years, she and her husband spent time helping our homeless community at the Lord of Life Church.
Throughout many years, Mary and Lester loved caring for over 75 foster children, and had 4 exchange students.
Mary always looked forward to bowling, was a member of many leagues, and very much enjoyed her time as a Sea Scout Leader. She looked forward to taking the Scouts on 50 mile adventures down the Fox River. As well, she loved swimming and snorkeling in the Grand Cayman Islands- where her brother lived. Mary and Lester regularly visited a cabin in Chippewa Falls where they could relax with their family while boating and fishing.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Dawn (Leonard) Lamb of Kenosha; her brothers, Gerald (Marie) Hardy, II of Grand Cayman Islands, Hall (Julia Churchill) Hardy of Middleton, WI; her grandchildren, Michael (Jessica Lay) Lindblad of Racine and Heather Lamb of Kenosha; her great-grandchildren, Emma of Kenosha, Taylor, Adaline and Wyatt of Racine; her many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lester, and her son, James Francis Lindblad.
Mary’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice Alliance for the exceptional care given to Mary.
