Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintMary Irene Slivon, age 88, of Kenosha, was called home on her husband’s birthday, on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Brookside Care Center.
Born on January 3, 1930, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Clement and Eva (Balaz) Jurik.
On August 15, 1953 she was united in marriage to Rudy Slivon at St. Anthony Catholic Church; the were blessed with 60 years together. Sadly Rudy passed away on May 17, 2014.
She was a devoted homemaker for her husband and three children. Prior to her marriage, Mary was employed by the Simmons Mattress Factory in Kenosha.
Mary was a life time member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She also volunteered at St. Mary Catholic Church in the Christian Formation Program for many years.
Mary loved telling jokes, playing bingo, watching movies and spending time with her family and friends. Mary found great joy in living her faith by showing kindness to everyone and comfort to those in need. She was an avid cook who loved serving guests. She took pride in her Slovak heritage and was famous for her baked Kolache. Above all, Mary was devoted to her family with unconditional love. She exemplified the teaching of Jesus to love God and neighbor.
Mary will be remembered by her children, Linda Marquardt, George (Lynn) Slivon, Sandy (Steve Dunn) Slivon along with her grandchildren, Chris (Beth), Rachel, Jessica, Sarah and Elizabeth; and great granddaughter, Bria Jane.
She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Marge Jurik and her lifelong friend, Eugenia Zwaryez.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Joe Jurik and her sister, Dorothy Tudjan.
The Slivon family would like to make a special acknowledgement and thank you to the Entire Staff at Brookside Care Center for making Mary’s final years of life memorable.
Service Date June 20, 2018
Funeral Services honoring Mary’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 5100 22nd Avenue. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
