Born in Kenosha on May 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Ernst and Augusta (Keuffer) Fischer. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Marvin was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.
Following high school, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy, entering the service on May 15, 1945. He served as a Seaman 1st Class, until his honorable discharge on July 16, 1946.
On October 4, 1947, he was united in marriage to Violet R. Hovey in Kenosha. They were blessed with three children and 38 years of marriage before Violet passed away on May 19, 1986. Marvin was later married to Delores Post on December 28, 1991, and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
Marvin was the owner and operator of Marv Fischer’s Mobil for 55 years, retiring in 2004.
A faith-filled man, he was a dedicated member of Kenosha Bible Church, ministering through his gift of music singing solos and participating in the church choir. He was also a member of Gideon’s International and selflessly volunteered his time at Hospice Alliance. For Marvin, family always came first and in his spare time enjoyed playing golf, feeding and watching the birds. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Delores (Post) Fischer; his three children, Dennis M. (Linnea) Fischer, Ronald A. (Suzanne) Fischer and Nancy J. (David) Brusko; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica), Sarah (Dennis), Joy (Preston), Andrew, Jennifer (Samuel), Leah (Michael) and Benjamin (Lizzie-Fiancée); and six great-grandchildren, Emma, Nathan, Alexander, Audrey, Madeline and Alexandria. He is also survived by the Post family who called him “Papa Marv”.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, Violet, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Erwin and Warren Fischer.
The family would like to thank the Casa del Mare staff and Hospice Alliance for their compassionate and loving care of our dad.
