Born on November 24, 1947 in Milwaukee, she was the daughter of George and Virginia (Brown) Perkins. Marilyn attended schools in the Merton area and was a graduate of Arrowhead High School. She also received her BA in Journalism from Marquette University.
On December 19, 1969, Marilyn was united in marriage to Peter Barreto at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waukesha. Peter passed away on October 30, 2013.
She was employed as a civilian with Great Lakes Naval Base as a Benefit Specialist, retiring with over 20 years of service.
In her early adult years, Marilyn had a passion for horseback riding dressage style. She was also a dedicated fan of Judy Garland and enjoyed following her career.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by a daughter, Molly (fiancé, Jim Thuesen) Barreto; a son, Peter Ross; her granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Barreto; her mother, Virginia Perkins and her brother, Tim (Leona) Perkins.

In accordance with Marilyn’s wishes, private funeral services will be held.
