Margaret Ann Ungemach was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on February 18, 1959 to Edward C. and Margaret E. (Scharf) Ungemach, Jr. She was adopted into the family of God in the waters of Christian baptism on February 21, 1959 at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenosha, Wisconsin. On May 20 of 1973 Margaret publicly confessed her faith in Christ in the rite of Christian Confirmation at the church of her baptism. She was born unto eternal life on Saturday morning, January 2 of 2021.
Meg grew up on the south side of Kenosha. She attended Friedens Lutheran School and graduated from Shoreland Lutheran High School in 1977. In May of 1981, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Dr. Martin Luther College of New Ulm, Minnesota and was then assigned to the elementary grades of Good Shepherd Lutheran School of Downers Grove, Illinois. Meg’s career as a Lutheran educator and church musician of more than thirty years then progressed through positions at Good Shepherd of Burnsville, Minnesota then St. Paul, Tomah, Wisconsin out to Mt. Calvary, Redding, California back to St. Paul of Muskego, Wisconsin and finished at Trinity, Union Grove, Wisconsin. In her years of retirement, she continued to offer her musical talents to her congregations in southeastern Wisconsin, Northern Indiana and Southwestern Michigan. She also taught piano lessons and played piano for dance studios along her path through life.
In her last year’s Meg resided in one of her very favorite places, Michiana Shores, where she also thoroughly enjoyed working in Customer Care for Bozak Honda of Michigan City, Indiana. Her love for music, nature, hiking, snow, and the water made the southern shores of Lake Michigan an ideal place to spend her retirement years near her wonderful longtime friends, Ken & Jacqueline Hull.
Meg is survived by her siblings Laura (Michael) Loescher of Osceola, Wisconsin, Kristina (David) Paustian of Charlotte, North Carolina, Miriam (John) Paustian of West Bend, Wisconsin, Edward (Amy) Ungemach III of Trevor, Wisconsin and Joel (Carrie) Ungemach of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, her many nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews; her Aunt Marian Wallig of Kenosha; her Uncle Eugene (Ingrid) Ungemach of Palm Coast, Florida; her many cousins and a blessed lifetime full of friends.
Meg was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the pastors of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Burlington, Wisconsin for assisting the family with Meg’s funeral.
