Born in Portland AK, on February 17, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James and Cealie Matheny.
Luttie made Kenosha her home in 1958. She worked as a CNA and in housekeeping at United Hospital System-St. Catherine’s and Kenosha Campuses and at Hospitality Manor.
She was a member of the Coleman Chapel AME Church where she gave of her time as a Stewardess and as an Usher. Luttie enjoyed both vegetables and flower gardening, cooking, baking, walking and shopping.
She is survived by her children, Bette Ruffin, Frankie Mitchell and Pastor Monroe (Diana) Mitchell; her son-in-law, John Beard; grandchildren, Diante Mitchell, Linsey and Brent Ruffin, Torrance Spann, Ashanti, Nataisja and John Beard, Sharmain Harris, Montrel Mitchell, Montreach Mitchell, Moshana, Monisha, Sisera Michell and a host of great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Luttie was preceded in death by her a daughter, Dianne Beard; her brothers, Limmy Mathney and Henry Brown Mathney and her sisters, Mrs. Anna Ross and Mrs. Laura Kendrick.
Service Date January 30, 2017
A Home Going Service honoring Luttie’s life will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at the Coleman Chapel AME Church, 4111 30th Ave. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Cemetery.
