Louis R. Benton, Jr., age 90 a resident of Azura Memory Care died on Sunday, June 7, 2015.
Born in Chicago, IL on December 4, 1924, he was the son of the late Louis R. and Philomena (Graziano) Benton, Sr.
On February 2, 1946 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Chicago, he was united in marriage to Rita A. Cannavan. Sadly after 57 years of marriage, Rita preceded him in death on January 24, 2004.
During his lifetime Louis pursued many career ventures. He retired in 1983 as a traffic manager with United Conveyor Corporation. After retirement, he owned and operated Little Bit of Beauty and Rainy Day People Beauty Shops. He was also employed with the State of Illinois Department of Motor Vehicle.
Louis was a former member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Cary Grove Council #12824.
Louis was a loving caretaker who was very generous and compassionate to others. He had an undying devotion to his family. Louis was a real gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved all things Italian and was an avid Chicago Bear and Cubs fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Camille M. Houle; his sister, Camille (Ed) Hudyma of Saugatuck, MI; his nephew, Jim (Deb) Hudyma of Rock Hill, SC; his three grandchildren, Megan Houle of Racine, Laura (Frank) Griffiths of Greendale and Andrew Houle of Seattle, WA; and his two great grandchildren, Derek and Kennedy.
In addition to Louis’ parents and wife, he was preceded in death by Camille’s loving partner, Ruth Ann Schulz.
The family would like to thank Azura Memory Care; especially Maria and Jane for the wonderful loving care they provided.
Service Date June 12, 2015
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. Private inurnment will be held in St. Mary Cemetery in Fremont Center, IL.
