Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintLois Jeanne Braun, age 97 of Kenosha passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Meadowmere Southport Assisted Living of Kenosha.
Born in Milwaukee on April 10, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Evelyn (Price) Dougherty. She graduated from Wauwatosa High School and attended Beloit College and then the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she graduated in 1940. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority at both schools.
On November 30, 1940, in Elm Grove, WI, she married John Peter Braun; later making Kenosha their home. They were blessed with four sons and 68 years of marriage. Sadly, John passed away in 2008.
Lois was happy to be a homemaker for her family, actively involved in her community and enjoyed golf. She was a member of the Kenosha Country Club and past president of the ladies 18 hole golf group. She was several times the 18 hole club champion. She was a lifelong member and past president of the Kenosha Symphony League and served on the board of the Kenosha Symphony Association. She was a lifelong member of and past president of the Kenosha Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Once Lois and her husband retired in Florida, she became a member and was a past president of the Ladies 18 hole golf group of the Yacht and Country Club of Stuart, FL. She was also active as a member of the Garden Club in Stuart, FL and a member of the Martin County Library Literacy Guild.
She is survived by her sons, Peter Braun of Kenosha, David (Katherine) Braun of Tega Cay, SC, Glenn (Sharon) Braun of Germantown, WI and Thomas (Andrea) Braun of Winchester, MA; eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and her brother, Charles ( Jan) Dougherty of Appleton, WI.
Service Date November 25, 2016
A Memorial Service honoring the life of Lois will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 11: 00 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue.
