Born in Kenosha on April 15, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Irene (Szelonski) Dunn, Jr. She was her parent’s birthday present with the 3 of them sharing the same birthday. She attended local schools and attended UW La Crosse.
On March 8, 1980, Liz married the love of her life, James “Jim” Eckola at St. Casimir Catholic Church. They created many wonderful memories during their time together. Before settling in Sheboygan, “the midway point between families”, Liz and Jim enjoyed a nomadic life, traveling all over the United States with Jim’s work crew. They particularly loved their stays in Hawaii and New Orleans. She never recovered when Jim lost his battle with cancer in 2001.
Over the years, Liz was employed with Bemis Manufacturing, Laurie’s Hallmark Store, WHBL- AM station and the Sheboygan Sun Newspaper.
She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Sports, politics, talk radio and Christmas.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister Malissa (Michael Timme) Dunn.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Jim; Liz was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Lee II and John Mitchell “JD” Dunn, father and mother-in-law, Gustav and Violet Eckola, uncle and aunt, Mitchell and Charlotte Szelonski, great aunt, Virginia Miller and her fur-baby, Czarna.
A private service honoring Liz’s life will be held at a later date.
She will be laid to rest in St. George Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, W2850 WI-28 Sheboygan Falls, WI, 53085 ssrhospicehome.org would be appreciated by the family.
