Born on October 3, 1927 in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Fred and Julia (Locken) Hillesland. He grew up attending local schools and was a graduate of Bradford High School.
Lief proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1945-1947.
On October 1, 1949, he was united in marriage to Bertha Ruhle in Kenosha.
For 30 years, Lief worked for American Motors as a Factory Worker and Foreman, until his retirement in 1975.
He loved snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, woodworking and golf.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Sandy (Darwin) Briggs, Cheryl (Michael) Poeschel, Richard (Leanne) Hillesland, Bonnie (Ron) Hillesland, Ronald (Deanna) Hillesland; his 7 grandchildren; his 2 step-grandchildren; his many great-grandchildren; his sister, Dolly (Skip) Richards.
In addition to his parents, Lief was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha; his brother, Donald Hillesland; his grandson, Jason Briggs; his sister, Joyce Kammerzelt.
Service Date October 20, 2022
Funeral services honoring Lief’s life will be held privately.
