Born in Kenosha on September 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Leslie H. and Adelaide (Link) Gardner.
He attended local schools; graduating from Kenosha High School.
In 1952, Les was united in marriage to Marie Engel. After nearly 40 years of marriage, Marie sadly passed away in 1993. In 1998, he was united in marriage to Florence Kavalaukas. Sadly, Florence passed away in 2015.
A hard working man with a great work ethic, Les was employed with Johnson Outboard Motors in Waukegan, IL for over 30 years.
He served others as a member of St Mary Catholic Church, the Danish Brotherhood and as a past member of the Kenosha Historical Society. Les was a Green Bay Packer fan; especially when they won and he enjoyed coin collecting, gardening, fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his children, Karen (David) Mau of Somers and James (Renee) Gardner of Waupaca; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren with one more on the way; and a sister, Doris Howard of Reno, NV.
Along with his parents and wives, Les was preceded in death by a son, David Gardner; and two sisters, Merle Preslan and Elnora Bielski.
Les’ family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staffs of Bay Harbor Assisted Living and the Grace Hospice Team for the compassionate care that they provided.
Service Date October 10, 2018
Funeral Services honoring Les’ life will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 7300 39th Avenue. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. PLEASE — USE NORTH OR SOUTH ENTRANCE TO ENTER THE CHURCH. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
