Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintKathleen M. Nighbert, age 72, of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Born in Racine on May 10, 1945, she was the daughter of the late J. Thomas and Margaret (Clausen) Gaffney. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, class of 1963.
It was freshman year of high school where she met, Terry A. Nighbert. Upon graduation, started dating and three years later, she married her sweetheart at St. Mark’s Catholic Church on October 22, 1966; recently celebrating the blessing of 50 years of marriage.
Kathleen was a homemaker for her family; together raising three beautiful children. She was a former member of St. Mark’s, St. Thomas and St. Mary’s Catholic Churches.
Baking, knitting, and gardening were some of her talents and hobbies; along with getting out to shop and later learning to be a smart on line shopper.
Kathleen will be deeply missed by her husband, Terry; her children, Laura Spiegelhoff, Matthew (Susanne) Nighbert and Beth (Sean) Dillon; her five granddaughters, Erin and Megan Dillon; Sarah and Rebecca Spiegelhoff and Cassandra Nighbert; along with her brothers, Thomas and Michael (Marcia) Gaffney and her sister, Patricia (Roger) Yule.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons in infancy, Edward Allen and Daniel Joseph and sister in law, Lin Gaffney.
Service Date July 12, 2017
Funeral services honoring Kathleen’s life will take place on Wednesday, starting with prayers at 10:30 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave, Kenosha. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 5821 10th Ave. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery.
