Born in Racine, WI on August 13, 1928 she was the oldest of six daughters born to the late James C. and Agnes L. (Campbell) Hayes.
She attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing and began her career as a Registered Nurse at St. Catherine’s Hospital.
On April 7, 1951 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Racine, WI she married Nicholas John Lichter. They resided and raised their six children in Somers, WI.
After retirement, Kathleen volunteered extensively at the Shalom Center Soup Kitchen, as an EMT for The Village of Somers Fire Department and the St. Catherine’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was also an active participant in the Four Seasons Garden Club and the Catholic Women’s Club. Kathleen was an avid reader and game player. She especially enjoyed her bridge group and Bananagrams with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Nicholas Lichter; her children, Judy Lichter of Sparta, WI, Lisa (Craig) Zimmerman of Onalaska, WI, Nicholas Jr. (Margaret) Lichter of LaCrosse, WI, Mary (Nick) Breunig of Fountain County, WI, Michael (Debi) Lichter of Chugiak, AK and Gretchen (Tim) Montee of Sturgeon Bay, WI; four sisters: Noreen, Sally, Judy and Diane; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia.
Service Date March 18, 2016
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 4817 7th Avenue. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the Mass. Interment will follow in St. George Cemetery.
