Born in Kenosha, WI on December 16, 1946, she lived her early years with her parents, Charles and Shirley (Steinway) Veasey in Zion, IL. Karen was a graduate of Zion-Benton Township High School.
Karen met her husband Gary Hollister in 1966, and they were united in marriage in September 1967. They spent several years together while Gary was in the U.S. Army and then settled in Kenosha in 1973.
She was an active member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha.
Karen was employed as a Secretary for the Kenosha Unified School District for 35 years, retiring in 2003.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gary; her two step daughters, Connie Lee (Hollister) Ingersol, Carol Lynn (Hollister) Custer, her daughter, Charlene Hollister; her son, Gary Lee Hollister II; her nine grandchildren and her 13 great grandchildren; her siblings; Sharon (Veasey) Wheelock, Charlene (Veasey) Guzman, Denise (Veasey) Angotti, Kevin Veasey and Mark Veasey.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Shirley Veasey.
Funeral services honoring Karen’s life will be held privately. Inurnment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Fireside Restaurant, 2801 30th Avenue, Kenosha, WI.
