Born on August 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Viola (Hermann) Lewandowski. She was a graduate of Kenosha Bradford High School. She attended Racine-Kenosha County Rural Normal School in Union Grove, later completing her degree in elementary education at the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater.
On August 17, 1957, she was united in marriage to Robert Pringle, Jr. Their union was blessed with 65 years of marriage and five children.
Julia taught elementary school for 10 years at the Wood Road, Woodworth, and Roosevelt schools and she worked alongside Robert on their dairy farm. Julia took on the job of feeding the calves. She was the bookkeeper for all of the farm records and helped wherever needed.
Julia loved baking delicious treats for her family and friends to enjoy. At Christmas time, she would make hundreds (perhaps over a thousand some years) of Christmas cookies for family and holiday guests and also to deliver to others in the community. In recent years, she worked tirelessly creating scrapbooks to preserve memories and family history covering at least five generations. For 29 years, Julia and Robert hosted a neighborhood picnic in their back yard that she named “Neighborfest”. It was often attended by as many as 100 friends and neighbors. Julia’s biggest passion throughout her life was caring for her children and grandchildren.
She was an active member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where she served on the church board. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and she was a Sunday school teacher. She belonged to the Kenosha Home and Community Education group (HCE) and to the Kenosha County Farm Bureau Women. She was a board member for the Pringle Nature Center at Bristol Woods Park and she was a 4H cooking project leader for the Bristol Challenge 4H club. In 1985, Julia, along with Robert, were honored as the Bristol Outstanding Citizens during the Bristol Progress Days celebration.
Julia was many things to many people, a daughter, loving wife and mother, a supportive sister, caring aunt, loving grandmother, a dear friend, and kind neighbor. Julia will be dearly missed by her children, Steven (Odette) Pringle of Redondo Beach, CA, Benjamin (Genevieve) Pringle of Turtle Lake, WI, and Betty (Aaron) Pringle Burkhalter of Pleasant Prairie, WI; her grandchildren, William, Elizabeth, and Rebecca Burkhalter and Raquel Pringle; her sister Viola (Garrett) Dreger and her sister-in-law, Sue Lewandowski.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 2023; their infant twin sons, James Robert and John David Pringle; her parents, Chester and Viola Lewandowski; and her siblings, Herman Lewandowski and Mary Hovey.
The family would like to thank the staff at Primrose of Pleasant Prairie (formerly The Addison) for taking care of Julia and Robert for the past four years.
