Joseph R. Capponi, age 73, of Kenosha passed away with his loving family at his side on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 and is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A lifelong resident of Kenosha, Joe was born on August 16, 1943, the son of the late Anthony and Alyce (Hopkins) Capponi. His mother, Alyce “Pee-Wee” Capponi was a strong influence in Joe’s life and absolutely adored him. Joe attended local schools.
Joe decided to enlist in the US Army in 1960 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1963. He spent 30 months in Baumholder, Germany, and thoroughly enjoyed his time overseas.
On May 8, 1965, he was united in marriage to the absolute love of his life Judith S. Fuhrer. They were blessed with three beautiful children and 52 years together.
Joe was loyal and true to his family. He was an incredible hard worker and provider and protected his family like no other. Joe was a member of the Carpenters Local #250, Joe was a superb carpenter and built quality houses and condos with Lexington Homes, Inc. for nearly 20 years. He and a small crew of carpenters built the company into the successful business it became. He was the owner of Inopac Properties for over 30 years and loved maintaining the rental properties.
Traveling and camping brought great enjoyment for Joe. They started with a just a tent and gradually progressed to a class A motor home. Joe could be found washing and waxing the motor home or the cars. He was a history buff and collected Walt Disney figurines. Mostly, Joe loved his family and being with the grandkids in Walt Disney World where their faces would light up with excitement from staying at the happiest place on earth.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Judith; his children, Richard (Beth) Capponi, Donna (Todd) Rover and Debbie (Rick) Vojtisek and 8 grandchildren, Joey, Lexi and Josh Capponi, Kevin, and Kyle Rover, Ricky, Ryan and Randy Vojtisek. He is further survived by his sisters, Patricia (Ray) Zuzinec and Judith (Mike) Coughlin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Aurora’s Palliative Care and Home Hospice. The nurses and social workers were truly amazing.
Service Date August 12, 2017
Funeral services honoring the life of Joseph will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Journey Church, 10700 75th Street. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum with full military honors.
