Joe Matelski was born on December 18, 1938, in Kenosha, WI, to Joseph Matelski Sr. and Mary (Lesczewski) Matelski.
Joe attended local schools. He worked at the American Brass and as an assistant manager at Piggly Wiggly before owning and operating Matelski’s bar for over 25 years.
Joe married Carol (Leuck) Matelski on April 13, 1959, in Kenosha. The couple had 3 children, Karen, Joseph, and Lynda.
Joe enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Bears and Cubs, antique cars, listening to Polkas, Johnny Cash, and 50’s and 60’s music. He also loved walking his West Highland Terriers Shorty and Hoagie.
Joseph is survived by brother, Daniel (Nancy) Matelski; daughter, Karen Reimer; son, Joseph (Nancy) Matelski; grandchildren, Jamie (Greg) Roberts, Christy (Jeremy) Benvenuto, Tom Matelski, Jackie Matelski, Joe (Vanessa) Reimer, and Katie (Devin) Mosley; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ellie) Benvenuto, Joshua (Natalie) Benvenuto, Renee Roberts, Jack Roberts, Jaxson Benvenuto, Lance Mosley and Jason Mosley; and great-great grandchildren, Milo Benvenuto and Ryder Benvenuto
Joseph is preceded in death by wife, Carol Matelski; father, Joseph Matelski Sr.; mother, Mary Matelski; daughter, Lynda Matelski Woodliff; brother, Richard Matelski; sister, Patricia Hirsch and son-in-law, Art Reimer.
SERVICE LOCATION Piasecki Funeral Home
Funeral services honoring Joseph’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Piasecki Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in St. Casimir Cemetery.
A visitation for Joseph will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
