Born in Milwaukee on June 5, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Kanjka)Rogowski.
On November 12, 1955 at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in Kenosha, he was united in marriage to Darles Sorensen.
For over 30 years, John was employed with AMC/Chrysler Corporation. Prior to AMC, he was first employed by family at Frantal’s Nursery and went on to work at the Simmons Co. In hisyounger years he also co-owned Nick and John’s Tavern at 63rd St. and 14th Ave. and later worked part time at Chris’ Tavern.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the former St. Casimir Parish. John wasalso a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, the Danish Brotherhood Lodge #14, and the UAW Local #72 union.
John loved flower and vegetable gardening and canning; especially beets. He had a deep love of all animals and enjoyed spending time fishing, bird watching and having picnics and pig roasts with his family and friends.
John is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Darles Rogowski; his children, Cheryl (James)McPhaul, John W. (Shelley) Rogowski and Kathy (David) Rogowski Meyer; seven grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Miranda, Natalie, Brennan, Tyler, and Tasha, two great grandchildren, Zoe and Jaxson and his loving kitty cats, Floyd and Susie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John R. Rogowski in infancy and a sister Martha Klimes
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookside Care Center and Dr. Timothy Hubbard and his wife, Stephanie for the outstanding care they gave John over the years.
Service Date April 12, 2015
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue. Private interment will take place in St. George Cemetery.
