John was born in Bialystok, Poland on March 6, 1928 to the late Stanislaw and Feliksa (Luba) Lemiesz. He was united in marriage to Henryka Czechrowska on December 26, 1952 at St. Wojciecha Catholic Church in Elblag, Poland. The family came to Kenosha from Poland in October 1962.
John served in the Polish armed forces for three years. He had been employed with Eaton Dynamic for over 23 years before his retirement. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing cards, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Halina Lemiesz of Sarasota, FL; Bogumila Moore of Kenosha, and Jolanta (Kevin) Smith of Lakewood Ranch, FL; two grandchildren, Heather Reber of Racine, and Dr. Joshua (Stephanie) Burgess of Sun Prairie; four great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Christopher Reber and Marek and Colton Burgess; 3 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Genowefa Dyszkiewecz of Poland; and a brother, Stanislaw Lemiesz of Rockford, IL.
John was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michael and Shawn Olsen; and two brothers, Piotr and Jozef Lemiesz.
Service Date March 17, 2016
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 4816 8th Avenue. Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the mass. Private inurnment will take place at St. Casmir Cemetery.
