Born on May 5, 1931 in Calumet, MI, he was the son of the late John and Marie (Croistiere) Forchette. He was educated in the schools of Ewen, MI.
John served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948 until 1952.
On June 25, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ewen, MI, he was united in marriage to Gloria Bergland. Sadly, she preceded him in death. On December 27, 2006, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church he married Luba Naumova.
John was employed as a Millwright for AMC/Chrysler Corporation from 1959 until his retirement in 1993.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and U.A.W. Local #72 Retirees. John enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. An avid Packer fan, he enjoyed cooking, music, watching the birds and working in his yard.
Survivors include his wife, Luba Forchette; four children, Theresa (Don) Starkey, John H. Forchette, Jr., Robin (Bob) Casarsa and Peggy (Jim) Camp; his twelve grandchildren, John III, Leah, Dan, Molly, Robyn, Bobby, Jack, Paul, Scott, Teddy, John Donald and Jimmy; five great grandchildren, Kayla, Emily, Logan, Olivia and Jaxon; his brother, Edward (Barbara) Forchette; and his very special canine companion, Duffy.
John was further survived by many other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Bruce Forchette; and two sisters, Shyrle Iness and Jackie Nitschke.
John’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Karen Forchette for all of her love and expert care. They would also like to acknowledge Hospice Alliance, Inc., Dr. David Knight and his staff, and Dr. Leonardo Montemurro for their exceptional care.

Service Date October 11, 2014
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014, beginning with a prayer service at 9:15 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2224-30th Ave. Entombment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
