John was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on November 26, 1930 and he was the only child of John Page, Sr. and Emma (Schmautz) Page. He graduated from Rockville, CN High in 1948 and from Harvard University in 1952. This was followed by a MD Degree from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) in 1956.
Following one year as an intern at Allegheny Hospital, Pittsburgh, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years as a physician in Ansbach, Germany with the Seventh Army and USAREUR. Following this tour of duty, John returned to Pittsburgh and spent two years as a resident physician at Children’s Hospital. He was certified as a Pediatrician in 1962.
He practiced pediatrics in Rochester, NY until joining Ross Laboratories, Division of Abbott Laboratories in Columbus, OH in 1965. His interest in medical research continued in the International and Pharmaceutical Products Divisions of Abbott in North Chicago until 1975, when he became Vice-President of Medical Research at Merrell-National Laboratories in Cincinnati, OH.
While in Chicago, he continued his military career as a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force Reserve serving as Commander of the 536th Medical Service Squadron at O’Hare Field.
He returned to Abbott PPD in North Chicago in 1980 and transferred to TAP (Takeda-Abbott Pharmaceuticals) as Medical Director from 1984-1992. A tour of Orange County, CA called from 1983-1988 as Vice President of Research at International Biological Research Corp was followed by a return to Deerfield, IL as Director of Medical Research for Takeda Pharmaceuticals (Japan) until his retirement in 2004.
John was a voracious reader of mystery novels. He enjoyed many hours collecting coins, photography, going to concerts, cooking with his wife, and listening to jazz and classical music. He enjoyed his home, wife, family and life without any regrets.
John was a 30 year resident of Pleasant Prairie and will be missed by his wife, Judy (nee: Juliana); two children, Cheryl (Bruce) Edgecomb and Linda (John) Rost, both of Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren, Michelle (Justin) Wood of FL, Alyssa (Sam) Mergler of IL, Becca (Sean) McKeon of FL, Brainna Hamm of OH, Theresa (David) Lin of OH, and Katelyn (Dan) Welborn of FL; a step-granddaughter, Kelsey Edgecomb; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden, Sienna, Annabelle, Levi, Kellen, Sofia and Cloey.
John will be missed by many relatives and friends and is further survived by his first wife, Charlotte of Lake Bluff.
The family of Dr. Page would like to extend a heartfelt thank you Dr. Neil Shepler & staff, Hospice Alliance, Inc. and staff; especially his nurse, Cindy Love and Chaplain, Terry Peterson, for the compassionate care they provided.

Funeral Services honoring Dr. Page’s life with full military honors will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home, 3720 39th Avenue.
