Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintMs. Jessie Ree Fowler was born in Lonoke, AR on May 5, 1919 to the late Abe and Martha Fowler. She and her twin brother James were the youngest of 15 children, whom all preceded her in death. Jessie passed away on April 1, 2022 in Kenosha, WI, at the age of 102, surrounded by her loving family.
Jessie and her family moved to College Station, AR, where she attended school. In 1938, she married Lucious Leroy Powell, and was blessed with one child, Louise, whom she loved and cherished dearly.
Jessie was a very outgoing, fun, and humble person. Extending her kindness and compassion to many. She raised chicken and geese and loved gardening. Throughout her life, she worked at various companies in the areas of dry cleaning, pottery as well as shipping and handling. Jessie, also served as the primary caregiver to her ailing mother. She doted on her grandchildren, spoiling and loving them as often as she could.
Jessie was very independent and lived alone for many years. A businesswoman in her own right, she owned and sold several properties. In May 2008, she moved to Kenosha WI to live with her only child Louise. She became a member of Second Baptist Church in Kenosha, WI under the leadership of Pastor Demetris Crum.
Jessie was a member of First Baptist, Mt. Vernon Baptist and New Hebron Baptist Church, where she served as an usher and sang in the choir. She was also a member of Eastern Star and Twin City Singing Union of Little Rock, AR. until moving to Kenosha.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Louise Powell Davis; grandchildren, Anthony (Danetta) Davis, Rickey (Sheronda) Davis, Bonnie Bailey, Connie and Joselyn Davis. A wonderful goddaughter, Barbara Marks, six great-grandchildren and 10 great- great-grandchildren as well as several family members and close friends.
In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by fourteen sisters and brothers, son-in-law, Johnnie Davis and great-granddaughter, Tionna Sumerset.

Homegoing services honoring Jessie’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Second Baptist Church, 3925 32nd Ave, Kenosha.
A visitation for Jessie will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
