Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintJean M. Sinnen, age 83 of Somers, died suddenly on Friday, November 28, 2014 at United Hospital System – St. Catherine’s Hospital.
Born in Kenosha on September 15, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Florence (Pagel) Scherer. She attended Kenosha schools and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School.
On Valentine’s Day in 1953 at St. George Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Gerald J. “Jerry-Hawkeye” Sinnen.
Jean was a longtime member of St. Peter Catholic Church where she faithfully and actively served in many capacities. Jean was a member of the St. Peter human concern committee, ten year co-chairman of the church festival, and was a rectory housekeeper.
Jean selflessly volunteered her time working with the Lord of Life Inns Program, the Shalom Center Soup Kitchen and St. Vincent DePaul.
Always young at heart, she loved all things Betty Boop . She worked part time at Oliver’s Bakery and enjoyed the time she spent working at Chuck E. Cheese where her 70th birthday was celebrated.
Jean enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bowling and going out for lunch with her friends.
Jean’s life will always be remembered by her husband, Jerry “Hawkeye” Sinnen; her seven children, Wayne (Cindy) Sinnen of Kenosha, Duane (Luann) Sinnen of Kenosha, Diane (Kurt) Schmeiser of Somers, Edward (Terry) Sinnen of Kenosha, Susie (Dean) Kelly of Darien, Donald Sinnen of Racine and Patricia (Greg) Deuel of Racine; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; her sister, Crystal (Henry) Sublisky of Kenosha and her sister-in-law, Helen Scherer of Adams Friendship.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Arwed “Ozzie” Scherer; and a sister, Daun Fletcher.
Service Date December 3, 2014
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2224 30th Avenue. Interment will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
