Born on January 25, 1928 in Saskatchewan, Canada, she was the daughter of Orville and Ernestine Gilpin. Her family moved to Chicago, IL when Janice was nine years old. She graduated from Proviso East High School in 1946. Janice later moved to Kenosha, WI in 1951.
In 1953, she was married to Wallace Shymanski, their union was blessed with 48 years and 4 months and 2 children.
Janice participated in the church choir, Women’s White Cross Ministries and the Pioneer Girls Club. She also participated in the Awana Club for twelve years. She enjoyed bowling, volleyball, roller skating and sewing, gardening, fishing and deer hunting.
She is survived by her son, Scott (Maureen) Shymanski; her daughter, Sheri Dreyer; her grandchildren, Emily Shymanski, Amy Hodgson, Ben Shymanski and Tony Ruzziconi; her 6 great grandchildren; her nephews, Greg, Jay and Kip Owen, Kevin Foreman and her niece, Terri Castle.
In addition to her husband, Wallace and parents, Janice was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Owen and grandparents.

A visitation for Janice will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the Piasecki Funeral Home, 3720 39th Ave, Kenosha, WI .
Funeral services honoring Janice’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022 at the funeral home.
