She was born on February 19, 1933 in Le Mars, IA; she was the daughter of the late Ray and Crystal (Ward) Yoerger. Janice was a graduate of Ames College where she received her degree in education. She furthered her education and attended Fort Collins College in CO, where she met the love of her life, John Ahern.
On June 13, 1958 in Le Mars, IA, she was united in marriage to John Ahern. They were blessed with 53 years together. John preceded her in death on January 31, 2011.
Janice was employed as a teacher with Zion Benton Township and was previously employed with Hollebs Clothing Store as a seamstress.
She was a member of St. Rita Parish in Racine and a former member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Kenosha.
Janice loved being a homemaker and devoted her life to her family. With her beautiful smile and generous nature, Janice was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was an excellent cook and seamstress.
Janice is survived by her children, Anita Perrault of Kenosha, Dixie Ahern of Kenosha, Deanne (Terry) Mayne of Racine and Craig (Julie) Ahern of Waukegan; five grandchildren, Amanda Bacinkas, Aaron (Elizabeth) Frantal, Jeremy Mayne, Emma Ahern and Sophie Ahern; two great grandchildren; her sister, Geraldine Baldwin of Sioux City, IA; and her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, John; she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Ahern; and a brother, Roger Yoerger.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Woods of Caledonia, for the support and acts of kindness they provided.
In accordance with Janice’s wishes, private funeral services will be held.
