Born on June 16, 1937 in Elgin, IL, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Helen (Chambers) Miller. They made Kenosha their home when Janet was a small child where she attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford.
She first met her future husband at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and on June 8, 1957, Janet was united in marriage to Richard Lewicke there. They were lifelong, active members at Mt Zion Lutheran Church.
Janet’s happiest times were when she was with her husband and extended family. She was a homemaker for her girls and then was very involved with the care and upbringing of her grandchildren. Janet stated that those times gave her great joy and purpose.
She was an avid reader and patron of our libraries. Everyone that met Janet would attest what a very sweet woman she was with a great sense of humor but fiercely protective of her family. She enjoyed summer vacations with her family “up north” and visits with her siblings over tea.
Janet will always be in the hearts of her husband, Richard; her daughters, Nancy (Tony) Sattler and Karen (John) Sorensen; grandchildren, Erin (Will) Merritt, Kyle Lindquist, Hannah Sorensen; great grandchildren, Elijah and Sierra Merritt; a sister Judith Gaal and lifelong friends, Margie Slavik, Robert and Arlene Weidner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Mantuano and brother, James Miller.
