She was born in Milwaukee on July 20, 1948 to the late Edwin J. and Florence (Wieczorek) Grochowski. Iris’ mother died at the very young age of three. Her father remarried Irene T. Wieczorek who loved Iris unconditionally and was known to her as mom. She attended St. Alexander’s Catholic Elementary and was a 1966 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy.
On December 3, 1966 at St. Alexander Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Thomas Radtke.
Iris was employed as a cashier with Franklin High School, retiring in 2002. Before moving to Franklin, she was employed as a cashier with Spiegelhoff’s in Burlington.
She was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Franklin.
Iris was generous and honest. She was proud of her Polish heritage and a very hard worker. She had a special expertise of being able to dictate precise instructions. Her candid personality and knowing a little something about everything was her real charm. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. Iris’ frugal shopping and excessive gift giving is what she did best. She was an accomplished seamstress and floral designer. Her yard was meticulous and she loved her roses. She took great pride in keeping her home spotless. Iris enjoyed camping in the North woods with her family and dear friends.
Iris is survived by her husband of 49 years, Tom; her children, David (Dawn) Radtke of New London, Lisa (Joe) Dallman of Franklin, Julie (Scott) Mermal of Honey Creek and Laura (Adam Ewings) Radtke of Somers; three grandsons, Christopher, Matthew and Benjamin; three granddaughters, Jessica, Grace and Stephanie; and one great granddaughter, Natalie.
Service Date January 28, 2016
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 beginning with a prayer service at 10:15 a.m. from Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home. 8910 W. Drexel Ave., Franklin, WI. A Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 7963 S. 116th St., Franklin. Entombment St. Adalbert’s Cemetery.
