Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintHelen J. Roemer, age 95 of Kenosha, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord on Friday, October 14, 2016. She died with dignity and her loving family at her side.
A lifelong resident of Kenosha she was born on May 24, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Ida G. (Hueffner) Olsen. She attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High School and was a 1939 graduate of Kenosha High School.
On May 17, 1947 in Milwaukee, she was united in marriage to Werner Roemer. Werner went to his eternal Home on January 19, 1979. Helen and Werner are now forever reunited and dancing in the clouds.
She was employed as an Administrative Assistant with St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged, retiring in 1985. During WWII, Helen was employed at MacWhyte Wire Rope Company.
Helen was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Friendly Center, St. Mary’s Catholic Seniors and many card clubs.
She enjoyed playing cards, reading, traveling and creating greeting cards on her computer for her many friends and her family. Helen cherished her family and her faith. Nothing could compare to the special bond she had with her children and grandchildren.
Helen will be always be remembered by her three sons, Paul E. (Kathleen) of Mt. Pleasant, Kurt D. (Alice) of Kenosha and Gary (Yuka) Roemer of Las Cruces, NM; her daughter, Janice H. Merrick of Kenosha; three grandsons, Bryan, Joshua (Sara) and Taiga Roemer; a granddaughter, Jalaine Merrick; and a great-granddaughter, Shawna Roemer. She is further survived by five step-grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Grace C. Maurer.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice Alliance, Inc. and The Addison Memory Care staff for the exceptional compassionate care they provided.
Service Date October 24, 2016
Funeral Services honoring Helen will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 7400 39th Avenue. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
